THE MEASURING GUIDE

A better fit.
A happier resting place.

Choose around your dog’s usable space, then check the furniture fits your room.

01

Measure your dog

Measure their natural standing height and body length. Think about the space they use when turning around and lying in their usual resting position.

02

Compare the interior

Use the internal dimensions on each product page. Check that your dog can stand without crouching, turn freely and stretch out comfortably. Allow for the thickness of any bedding.

03

Check the room

Mark out the outside footprint on your floor. Allow room for opening doors and cleaning. Sliding doors reduce swing clearance, but the entrance still needs to stay accessible.

Choosing for two dogs?

Each divided compartment in our 120cm double crates is 55.8cm wide × 51.6cm deep × 78.9cm high. Measure each dog separately against that space. Removing the divider gives a single interior of 113.4cm × 51.6cm × 78.9cm.

Two compartments suit dogs that are comfortable resting separately. If either dog finds confinement distressing, ask a qualified behaviour professional for advice.

Make it a place to choose.

Introduce a crate gradually and positively, with the door open at first. It should be a comfortable resting space, never a punishment. Furniture-style crates are for indoor use; follow the manufacturer’s assembly and use instructions.

Measure three spaces, not one.

The dog’s usable space

Compare natural standing height, body length and the space used when turning and lying down with the internal dimensions. Bedding reduces the usable height.

The furniture footprint

Mark the outside width and depth on the floor. Check skirting boards, nearby doors and the route needed to assemble and position the furniture.

The door and approach

Leave enough room to enter, open doors fully, remove bedding and clean. A sliding door avoids a swinging panel but still needs a clear entrance.

Do not size a crate by breed alone.

Dogs of the same breed can differ in build and resting position. Model names such as “XL” and the total width of a double crate do not tell you whether its usable interior fits your dog.

Compare all published measurements. The two XL interiors remain under review; ask before relying on those models for a particular fit.
