THE CANINE LIVING BUYING GUIDES
Single or double dog crate furniture?
Choose by the usable space each dog gets, rather than the length of the furniture.
Start with the layout
A single crate has one undivided resting space. A double furniture crate can be split into two compartments with a central divider. The divider makes separate spaces; it does not mean either compartment is large enough for every dog.
Compare the space per dog
Our two double models are 120cm wide outside, but each divided compartment is listed as 55.8cm wide, 51.6cm deep and 78.9cm high. With the divider removed, the listed interior is 113.4 × 51.6 × 78.9cm. Measure each dog and compare those interior figures, including the room taken up by bedding.
Two dogs do not always need one shared unit
Separate crates give you more freedom to place each resting space in a different part of the room or home. A double unit combines the footprint into one piece of furniture. Consider each dog’s comfort with the arrangement rather than choosing only for a matching finish.
Check how the doors work
The double models in this range have sliding barn doors. Several single designs use hinged doors, including models with front and side access. Allow for a clear approach, opening the doors and cleaning the interior.
